ok, my personal definitions are
fictionkin- anything mythological; dragons elves, fae etc
whereas mediakin- specific fictional characters from media
I have no problem with (my definition of) fictionkin. Creatures that have been mentioned in many different time periods and cultures can be completely justified by otherkin to me via alternate universe theories, ‘spiritual’ otherkin-ness, etc.  That doesn’t bother me at all.
Its when these fucking weeaboo preteens try to claim that they are the embodiment of specific fictional individuals that I get fucking pissed off.
I’ve met (ON MORE THAT ONE OCCASION) people on Tumblr who have claimed to be from the ‘Supernatural’ universe. (Dean, Cas, Sam etc.) and then they piss all over the entire identity of the character while pretending to be them. (ie having a completely different personality and basic character traits) Then they also just post a shitload of non-canon gay porn of ‘themselves’ and other Supernatural characters.
Mediakin are just fucking roleplayers with absolutely no identity of their own, so they feel the need to ruin characters that someone probably spent YEARS creating and it’s just super embarrassing and disgusting and pathetic and they need to stop
authors (and other similar creative types) put so much care and dedication into their beings that they create and they don’t do it so someone can vaguely relate to their character and go “TH4TS WHO EYE HAVE B33N ALL AL0NG!1 !!” and then proceed to make a complete and total mockery of that character with their attention-seeking bullshit.
The only person who could ever claim to be the embodiment of a specific character is the person who created that character. Because, in reality, they are the only person who truely knows that character inside and out. They are the only person who could every know exactly how that character would react to any given situation because they are a product of that person’s own mind. Sure, other people could get a good idea of what a character is about and how they would generally behave, but to claim that you are that character and that you “always have been even before they existed hurrdurrhurr” is completely juvenile and ludicrous.
When someone is otherkin, its like they are taking on the essence of whatever creature they feel they relate to. This is fine, because they can still be a functioning individual with their own personality, desires, fears etc.
BUT when you step into mediakin territory, you are trying to claim an entire identity and that’s just fucking sad that you can’t have a personality of your own and you have to steal one that someone else created.
//end rant
TL;DR: you can RELATE to a character all you want but you will never BE that character

I have to say, being educated on how you defined these things, I find I can’t agree with you more. People who take on specific characters, are generally not their own person. They are trying to be that which they are not, in the hopes that they are, or can amount to that character.

I’m going to just casually redirect you to the fact that some fictives/mediakin exist due to neuroatypicality and without the choice of the individual hosting them so calm the fuck down.

Fictives happen. Introjects happen.

ok, well if you are in a state of mind in which you ACTUALLY BELIEVE that you are a FICTIONAL CHARACTER there is a fucking problem and you shouldn’t be running a fucking blog glorifying it

shaaku asked: special snowflake is an ableist term. and yes it is hate. just leave innocent people alone, its not that hard a concept?

HOW IN THE MOTHERFUCK IS 'SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE' ABLEIST HOLY SHi T

YOU ARE A FUCKING DOORKNOB AND I AM NOT EVEN GOING TO VALIDATE THIS ASK WITH A DIRECT RESPONSE

ribaisu asked: does tagging your hate make you feel special

uh

it’s not hate when I’m pointing out someone being a counterproductive special snowflake tbh

—-

and also since you went out of your way to come into my ask box I’ll have to ask you to stop pissing all over Yugioh by pretending you are an embodiment of various characters

its a good show dont fucking ruin it for me with your bullshit

Anonymous asked: Could you please explain those 'identities' that you mentioned in your post? I'm not sure I've heard of anything like those.

otherkin- Umbrella term. Believing you are, in one way or another, ‘nonhuman’ or somehow connected to something nonhuman (thats the way I describe it anyways. People interpret it in many different ways)

genderfluid- Having a constantly changing identifying not as male or female, but as a mixture of both, neither, or something completely different alltogether.

celestialkin- an otherkin identity relating to space/the star/galaxies instead of plants/animals

now, I want to explain that those three things I have absolutely 0 problems with, and I actually feel that I personally fit into all of them

HOWEVER;

mediakin- claiming to be a fictional character. ie the human embodiment of a character from a book or tv show

otakukin- mediakin, but from anime specifically

THOSE two categories are complete and total horseshit and I will piss on them as much as I want and not feel bad about it because no one can claim to be a FICTIONAL character and not expect to be treated like they are in preschool

an also, just to clarify about the person whom i was criticizing, they have been seagullkin, albatrosskin, then wolfkin, then winged wolfkin, and now celestial wolfkin and otakukin all in the span of less than a year

and apparently their ‘pronouns’ are nov/novs/novself and void/voids/voidself

which is 1000% bullshit and they need to stop because that’s not how pronouns even work

cchihiros:

arseniccyanide:

oh god

someone I used to be friends with, who I knew was otherkin/genderfluid at the time is now also mediakin/otakukin/celestialkin and uses a couple of those stupid made up pronouns and i just

there’s a cutoff, man, and you crossed it

hey guess what: youre a piece of shit.

#/otherkin hate #/transphobia

hey guess what no im not really

I have nothing whatsoever against otherkin or anyone in the trans* community

but when you start identifying yourself as a FICTIONAL ANIME CHARACTER and asking people to use the ‘animal’self pronouns, you’re acting like an attention seeking 12 year old and someone needs to put you in your place thanks
